With the weather dipping into double digits of frigid nastiness in many parts of the country....it's a great time to be living in paradise;  Venice Florida! Cool So many wonderful events are taking place in January in the Venice area that it should keep even the most discriminating individual happy all month long. So let's get on with the festivities:

Wednesday & Friday evenings walk on down to Centennial Park to enjoy an enchanting evening under the stars by the Gazebo as you take in the fabulous sounds of the FREE CONCERTS. Wednesday evenings in January feature the soothing sounds of the Gentlemen of Jazz and Friday evenings start with the David Smash Band and rotate from there. This month we have a special installment with the addition of Tuesday's and the Happy Time Band and their Dixieland Jazz & Big Band tunes! It's going to be a great month at Centennial Park...so pick a day to join in on the fun!  Always an incredible time!

Jan 10-11- IT'S A BLING THING! One of a kind jewelry by local artists set up at the Venice Art Center. We have some incredible artists here in Venice and the jewelry they create is absolutely stunning! You will not be disappointed. 10 am - 4 pm. More Info: ITS A BLING THING

Jan. 11 & 12 - Venice Theater- SURF'S UP: with Phil Dirt and the Dozers will pay tribute to the Beach Boys and other surf rock bands. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Sunday and 3 and 8 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $35. This beach party band with 20 years of experience, will have audiences singing along to the music of The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, The Hondells, Ronny and the Daytonas and more. Then on Jan. 18 & 19th, the Capitol Steps bring their up-to-the-minute political humor to Venice. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Sunday and 3 and 8 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $49. Notorious for poking fun at Democrats and Republicans alike, they will have the audiences laughing til they are crying! Both shows promise to deliver beyond expectations.  VENICETHEATER

Jan. 13- Taste of Venice Gourmet Food Tour- Meet the chefs/owners and share their culinary secrets. You will be steeped in the amazing history of the City. Your palate will taste some of the finest foods in Southwest Florida while you get off the beaten path and explore the true "downtown" island and its varied neighborhoods. Each venue will provide two tasting portions of their choice of their signature menu and pair it with a wine of their choice. It's a great chance to explore the true "TASTEOFVENICE"

Jan 16-18- Florida Highwaymen Art Show & Sale- Mission Valley Golf and Country Club- If you're not familiar with the work & story of the Florida Highwaymen you need to see this show! This is an antique lovers dream! FLORIDAHIGHWAYMEN

Jan. 17- At the weekly, fabulous Venice Farmers Market, there will be a BLOOD DRIVE that is critically needed here in Venice, from 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. If you are of age and healthy enough to donate, please consider donating this life saving gift. Movie tickets are being given to all donors. More info can be obtained at this link: oneblood.org.

Jan 17-18- Venice-Nokomis Rotary Art Festival- This is the 23rd annual festival of fine arts and crafts of hundreds of artisans and thousands of people from southwest Florida. The two day event is always a smashing success. With food, drinks, music and more art than you can imagine! ROTARYARTFESTIVAL

Jan 18- Sweet Home Habitat- Plantation Golf & Country Club- The 7th Annual Home Raising Extravaganza fundraising to benefit Habitat for Humanity. 6-10pm Can't think of a better cause than this! All details for the event can be found at this link: HABITATSOUTHSARASOTA

Jan 24- A Tribute to the Eagles- Venice Art Center- Back by popular demand, the best tribute band to the Eagles around!
