One of the best things about living in Venice and the Suncoast area is the ability to enjoy the beautiful local waterways all year long! Founded in 1976, the Venice Women's Sailing Squadron has been an amazing local organization of women who love to sail!! Every Wednesday from mid-September until the end of May, you will find the "Bitter Ends", as the squadron is commonly known as, racing their Prams, Optimists, and Sunfish boats out on Roberts Bay.

The Bitter Ends will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary this fall! On October 17th, current and former members are invited to celebrate in Sarasota for a party on LeBarge Tropical Cruises! Former members can contact Penny Washburn at (941) 966-3100 for more details on the festivities.

Want to join this fantastic sailing orgainization? Learn to rig, sail, and race on an International Optimist Dinghy this fall with the Venice Women's Sailing Squadron! Every year the Bitter Ends offer a week long sailing class. Participants are invited to become members of the squadron upon completion of the class! This year the class will be held daily Monday, October 10th through Friday, October 14th from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm. The class takes place at the PRAM Shed at Venice Yacht Club (1330 Tarpon Center Drive). A swimming test, to be held on October 3rd at 9:30 am, is required for all class participants. Be sure to register online for the Learn to Sail class by September 10th HERE!!!
