Rev 3 Challenge Triathalon --> NOVEMBER 8, 2015

What better place for a Triathlon than the famous shark tooth capital of the world, Venice, FL.  It’s coveted natural beauty and perfect yearly temperatures make it a unique place for runner, bikers and swimmers, who will be doing all three.

Athletes will enjoy water temperatures in the high 70′s and if lucky, might find themselves swimming with Venice’s playful dolphins.  The swim will be based at Sharky’s on the Pier and will be a clockwise single loop swim around the pier.  Spectators will have great views of the entire swim course from the 700 foot pier.

The bike course is a flat and fast course on great pavement. After leaving Venice, athletes will stay in Sarasota County and will feature a few out/back sections to check out your competition on Forbes Trail and Knights Trail. This course features only one drawbridge and will take place on mostly quiet roads. You will finish through downtown Venice before returning to transition to begin the run.

The 2015 Chalk Festival will cover the Island of Venice in chalk!  It takes place November 9-16 and celebrates the theme 'Eat, Drink and Be Merry!'

The Sarasota Chalk Festival is a local community-based event by the Avenida de Colores 501c3 charitable cultural arts organization. It is the first and only internationally acclaimed festival in Sarasota County that is free to participate for all children, students, adults, families, and the elderly that are professional, seasoned, emergent and even beginner artists.

The festival will feature pavement artists from around the world, a cultural exchange of sorts, through the art of chalk! Hundreds of artists will use the Venice pavement as their canvas and pastel chalk as their medium to create breathtaking oversized traditional and 3D illusionistic paintings. The public are invited to participate in, attend, and interact with the artists as they go about their work.

This cultural festival appeals to the most sophisticated critic as much as it does to the novice. Artists of all ages and skill levels will recreate old masterpieces alongside original works of art.  The public becomes an integral part of the performance as the viewer.

All applications are approved to participate in the festival regardless of age or skill level. Dozens of other performers and groups are accepted, adding a nice compliment to the festivities; a concert stage is set up for performances and music and storytellers share behind the scene information you may not know. Others perform dance, magic, theater and other performances to entertain you.

The Sarasota Chalk Festival is free because of many generous donations.  The festival relies on four partners: dedicated volunteers that work all year to organize the festivities; Sponsors who help with support and cash needed; passionate artists, dedicating their skills and waiving their normal fees for the community event; and enthusiastic visitors who donate at the festival.
