1. Sharky’s On the Pier 1600 Harbor Drive S., Venice; 488-1456;

Last year voted Sharky's the best beach bar in the Sunshine State.  The only Bar of it's kind, connected to a fishing pier!

Sharky's sits right on the Gulf in the Shark's Tooth Capital of the World, where diners can see amazing sunsets, gorgeous gulf views, oh and the absolute best seafood around.  Come rinse off that pearly sand from your feet, take a seat and munch on some Mahi-Mahi while sipping on a liquor infused snow cone.  After a couple snow cones you may end up on the dance floor, hopping to live music, it doesn't matter if your a Florida Cracker or just visiting Grandma, come dance the night away on the Gulf.  For those with finer tastes, Sharky's has opened the more upscale Fins at Sharky's, no snow cones though...  

 2. South Beach Bar & Grille  777 Gulf Blvd., Boca Grande; 964-0765

South Beach Bar and Grille is bordered by two State Parks, making parking extremely convenient.  This restaurant looks like it drifted in from sea and washed up on the beach.  There isn't a bad seat in the place, no matter where you are you will have spectacular views.  So, head on over and sip on some Rum Runners with the locals.


3. Rod and Reel Pier Restaurant  

 875 N Shore Drive, Anna Maria; 778-1885

Known for it's dolphin spotting, Manatees, Tarpon, Sharks and Loggerhead Sea Turtles make regular appearances. Diners have been tossing back cold beer and soaking up the amazing views for over six decades.  



4. O’Leary’s Tiki Bar and Grill 5 Bayfront Drive, Sarasota;


Within walking distance of downtown’s arts and entertainment district, O’Leary’s sits on the shoreline along Sarasota Bay. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it’s a trendy spot for enjoying frozen drinks and burgers in a Key West-style setting. O’Leary’s also regularly hosts a variety of musicians playing all your favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes and other beach songs you know by heart.




5. Lido Key Tiki Bar 1234 Ben Franklin Drive, Sarasota; 309-2577;

Tucked in behind the members-only Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, the Lido Key Tiki Bar is a rare bastion of Old Florida amidst the new hotels and condo towers. Lido's has been a favorite among locals for decades, the open-air bar right on the sand serves beer, wine and mixed drinks in a chill, rustic setting.  There is no parking here, so this gem is best reached on foot or boat.


6.  Lido Beach Resort Tiki Bar 

 700 Ben Franklin Drive, Sarasota; 388-2161;

Ok, so maybe you're not one of the fortunate guests at the Lido Beach Resort, you can still enjoy the first-rate treatment at it's tiki bar, which sits on a beautiful stretch of white sand on Lido Key.  The drink menu won't disappoint and the food is pretty darn good too. 



7.  Gulf Drive Café  900 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach;


One of the best places to watch the sunset, what started as a diamond in the rough, known only by the locals but has grown into one of the largest full-menu/full-bar restaurants on Anna Maria Island, and they havn't stopped growing yet.  The newest addition is the massive Kokonut Hut, a huge open air structure with flat screen TVs.  You can relax right in the sand and watch the game...and not get blasted by the sun.  If you happen to be a sunmiser the outdoor tables bring you even closer to the water and right into the cherished Florida sun. 


8. The Beach House Restaurant  200 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach;


A go to spot for indoor and/or outdoor activity.  This place is packed for lunch, dinner, drinks, weddings and, most famously,spectacular sunsets. The 20-year-old restaurant recently finished seven months of renovations including an expansive new bar with large windows, allowing for better views those famous sunsets on the gulf. 

9. The Sandbar Restaurant 100 Spring Ave, Anna Maria; 778-0444;

Ahh, the Sandbar.  A town Favorite! Part of the Chiles Restaurant Group which includes the BeachHouse and Mar Vista Dockside on Longboat Key, The Sandbar has a ton of indoor tables offering pristine waterfront views, and also offers seating right on the sand and banquet areas hidden in the shade of the trees that line the beach. When dining at Sandbar, you have to order one of the restaurant’s “Crop to Cocktail Drinks,” which use produce from Chiles’ farms to create libations like garden-fresh bloody mary and jalapeno-juiced margarita.

10. The Waterfront Restaurant 111 South Bay Blvd., Anna Maria; 778-1515;

Though technically not a beach bar, due to the narrow South Bay Boulevard, this beloved island restaurant features covered, outdoor tables overlooking the Gulf and the 103-year-old Anna Maria City Pier. Enjoy the view while sipping on one of the many craft cocktails and eating ahi sliders the size of baseballs. In addition to unique cocktails, The Waterfront also has an impressive wine and craft beer selection; an ideal place for post-sunbathing leisure relaxation.
