Sharks & Crafts

Children of all ages will love being creative while creating shark-themed crafts in the Aquarium courtyard. This fun craft event is free with regular paid admission to the Aquarium.


Tuesday, June 27th | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Tiburones: The Sharks of Cuba Screening

Come to the WAVE Center for a free screening of Tiburones: The Sharks of Cuba, which features Mote's own shark researchers Dr. Robert Hueter and Jack Morris. There will be an interactive Q&A following the screening. Please RSVP HERE for this FREE event.

Sharks, Tales and Ales: The Teeth Beneath

Learn more about Florida's top predators, including sharks, crocodiles, and dolphins, at this fun, casual discussion. Experts from Mote will help you discover all about these animals adaptations and interactions beneath the waves. The evening's featured speakers will be Brian Siegel (Senior Aquarium Biologist-Mote Marine Laboratory), Veronica Garcia (Aquarium Biologist-Mote Marine Laboratory), Dr. Katie McHugh (Staff Scientist-Sarasota Dolphin Research Project), and Krystan Wilkinson (Research Assistant & Graduate Student-Sarasota Dolphin Research Project). There will be cocktails and small plate appetizers from Mote Science Café available for purchase. This program is designed for adults 21 and over. Reserve your spot HERE.

See Dr. Robert Nowicki discuss his current and future research. Learn about plans to establish shark monitoring in the Florida Keys, which will help provide data for the population's management and restoration.

Fins & Fun Family Festival

Enjoy a day full of family fun. Meet Gilly the Shark, Mote's mascot, have your face painted, join in educational activities regarding the importance of sharks in our area, and so much more! After the festival, girls ages 6-13 and their families can come to the free  Gills Club July Meeting - Real Talk About Sharks  meeting from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.
